Publication Research Performed at Toast Cafe
Mr B. from Mornington, Victoria was introduced to the World Wide Web after noticing the advertising for affordable Internet access and support at the Salvos Toast Cafe in Mornington.
He had already been aquainted to the training services through the delivery of introductory computer classes at a local adult community learning centre. Access to Internet services at Toast Cafe offered Mr B. the opportunity to complete extensive research online leading to the production of a publication titled "Who Really Discovered Australia".
The Internet was one of many tools used to research information and access relevant images in addition to communicating online with the various State Libraries, in particular, Canberra.
Mr B. has now completed this project which took close to 6 years. The final 12 months of the project included learning about and accessing the World Wide Wev to refine his research findings. Mr B. continues to visit the Toast Cafe to not only make use of facilities, but to also catch up with a number of staff and clients who frequent the Salvos Toast Cafe.
